Academic Scholarships for Students

We have children who are orphans and others whose parents can barely afford to contribute financially to the school. At Atanansi we do not send any kid away but rather work with parents or guardians to contribute what is within their means such as a stack of firewood or some food harvested from their gardens. Such students can benefit from your support through full or partial scholarships.

Lower Primary termly scholarship (3 months) – 25 USD

Upper Primary termly scholarship (3 months) – 35 USD

There are three terms in a Ugandan academic year: Feb-May, May-August, September-December

Music Education

We need help to buy some marching band musical instruments. We would like to train our children how to play music instruments, sing, and dance. Through the training and performances of our children we hope to spark the creative imagination of our children, help build their confidence, but even more importantly spread some joy and rally our local community around issues such as hygiene, and importance of education.

Structural Development of the School

Our school has only one permanent classroom block (see achievements page). The rest of the structures are still semi-permanent structures and we hope you can join our efforts in improving the structures of Atanansi school so as to create a good learning environment. Detailed architectural plans and bill of quantities have been made for the school and we welcome your support in bringing about the structural improvement of Atanansi school. Through local efforts and the support of friends, we have available 25,000 bricks on site, some truck loads/dumps of sand, truck loads of hardcore stones, and truck loads of ballast stones. The bricks can construct 3 buildings. With the available materials on site, we are looking for $20,000 to build and complete the second permanent brick, mortar, and iron-sheets building. The funds will go toward buying 700 bags of cement, iron sheets/nails, roofing timber, metallic doors and windows, and technical labor costs.

ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN

1- Capitalize their “village bank” where they can borrow small loans.

2-They need help to buy their own locally fabricated charcoal briquettes machines, wax candle making molds. The current machines and molds are hired from a men’s group somewhere.

3- They need support to buy production materials for their liquid and bar soap the production materials.

4- They need support towards their sewing and garment making project. They want to make reusable sanitary pads and school uniforms.

RAIN WATER HARVESTING TANKS

With all the abundant rain water from the roof of the new school, harvesting it will save the school time of going to the stream or spending long hours in a line waiting at the one village borehole.
